About the project:
Knowledge is British Columbia’s public education broadcaster. The network broadcasts a unique mix of arts and culture programs that explore the world from multiple perspectives. For children, they offer daily commercial-free programming that sparks the imagination and a love of learning.
Fulscrn worked with Knowledge producers to design and develop a brand new Knowledge:Kids website that provides a fun, safe, and highly interactive space for young children to explore, play, and enjoy a wide-range of world-class programming.
The Knowledge:Kids characters welcome visitors to the website and engage young learners in their distinctly BC environments. Preschoolers will find their favourite shows along with age-appropriate games and activities that reinforce early learning concepts. Parents can tap resources about children’s health issues and media awareness.
Navigation and usability features were designed with preschoolers in mind. The website was developed in Flash. An integrated WordPress CMS makes updating and maintenance easy, page and video views are tracked by Google analytics, and SWF address allows for single page promotion, bookmarking, and a seamless browsing experience.
A companion mobile site was developed for those users coming to the site on non-flash compatible devices such as iPhones and iPads.
