About the project:

This ground-breaking, multi-platform documentary examines the violent kidnapping of a Vancouver university student in 2006, and the massive police investigation that followed.

Fulscrn worked with producers at and CBC Television’s the fifth estate to create an innovative interactive experience that let users play the role of investigator, gathering clues, pursuing suspects, and ultimately trying to save the victim in this real-life crime.

On television viewers of the fifth estate scanned QR codes flashed on screen, or logged into Twitter and Facebook to weigh in on the investigation. This real-time experience was broadcast live in each of Canada’s five time zones with unique audience results.

A detailed gamification and multi-platform production strategy guided the development of Kidnapped, while dramatic recreations, stunning original footage, and beautiful interface design brought the interactive experience to life.
